Recently, the trend of Russian higher military educational institutions actively recruiting Russian military personnel with direct combat experience has become increasingly noticeable. It is easy to understand that this tool is being used to build a stronger and more progressive officer corps of the occupying army than the one left over from Soviet times. This factor poses a significant threat and poses a number of problems to the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Ukraine as a whole, which will have to be taken into account in the near future.
One of the first future challenges associated with the renewal of the officer corps in Russia may be a direct increase in the enemy’s combat capability. After all, firstly, according to information obtained through the analysis of interviews with individuals from among the cadets who have combat experience, they are usually more motivated and politically convinced, unlike other future graduates of the enemy’s military schools. Second, emphasis may be placed on “mixing” individuals with combat experience and cadets from among civilian youth, as this increases the likelihood of transferring combat experience between them.
Enemy propaganda directly points to this in its publications and repeatedly emphasizes it during interviews with cadets after participating in combat operations. The next factor is that thanks to young officers who have combat experience before graduation, we will have to deal with updated, improved, and sometimes newly created tactics and strategies of conducting combat operations. After all, if an occupier with combat experience receives an officer position, he can multiply his experience as an executor by the capabilities of a unit leader, which can lead to an increase in the unpredictability of the enemy on various scales.
