Recently, the documentary “Mr Nobody Against Putin” has drawn attention for, among other things, portraying Russians involved in pro-Kremlin propaganda targeting young audiences in a more sympathetic light. While some in the West continue to frame Russians as “poor, innocent victims,” we present a selection of members of the furry subculture in Saint Petersburg — Russia’s self-proclaimed “cultural capital” and the birthplace of the Wagner Group and the Rusich sabotage and reconnaissance unit.

These “small cogs” in the system help sustain Russia’s defense industry and are, indirectly, complicit in the crimes of Putin’s regime. Their trajectories range from quiet supporters of the FBK and Navalny’s “Smart Voting” campaign to a “Rosgvardia bear” — the organizer of the Furrburg festival.

The following individuals:

• FeronDrak (Konstantin Alekseevich Ermolaev)
• Harleo (Vladislav Andreevich Vorozhko) and his father

Separately, the Furrburg festival has been examined as a case study in the normalization of pro-Russian ideological messaging among youth-oriented subcultural spaces.

Observations from within the local furry community suggest that individuals associated with openly pro-war symbolism are, at minimum, not systematically excluded from participation.

This may also be of relevance to European partners, as both participants and organizers connected to the Furrburg community could warrant further assessment in the context of security considerations in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland.

Furrburg-related activity includes engagement with foreign nationals and the development of cross-border social ties, which may extend informal networks beyond Russia and could warrant further scrutiny by relevant partner institutions.

Vladimir Belyavsky aka Hans Panda

He is the least publicly visible figure on the list. Belyavsky is part of St. Petersburg’s furry community and regularly attends local meetups.

His name appears in leaked databases associated with “Smart Voting” and the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK)’s list of “extremists,” which may point to at least some degree of support for Alexei Navalny. Yet when it comes to Ukraine, Belyavsky’s views are far more in line with Russia’s pro-war camp.

In one of the furry community’s chats, Belyavsky openly justified Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, expressed hopes for a Russian victory, and boasted about receiving an official salary from a defense-industry company.

That apparently did not stop him from maintaining friendly relations with other “apolitical” Russian furries. Most notably, he appears to be quite comfortable flaunting his pro-war views in the Telegram chat https://t.me/lampshark, a pro-war channel run by Red Sato, a self-described “Z” supporter.

In 2023, this “good” Russian took a job at NPO OBUKHOVSKY ZAVOD JSC — according to his CV, as a metrology engineer. The plant is part of the Almaz-Antey concern and is subject to international sanctions: https://war-sanctions.gur.gov.ua/en/components/companies/805.

The enterprise manufactures technological equipment for missile systems and launchers, including the S-300 and S-400, as well as equipment for UAVs and, as part of Russia’s defense-industrial cooperation, ballistic and cruise missiles.

The company primarily develops navigation systems, including solutions for UAVs. In 2024, Ukrainian outlet Focus, citing Russian sources, reported that Sitronics had developed specialized communication equipment for drones used by Russian forces for reconnaissance and surveillance. In 2025, Channel 24, citing the Ukrainian partisan movement Atesh, reported that the group had conducted reconnaissance of Sitronics KT, a St. Petersburg-based enterprise allegedly involved in helping Russian forces develop and manufacture UAVs.

Furrburg

The Furrburg community itself warrants closer examination. It is one of Russia’s best-known and most popular furry festival communities, bringing together a large number of organizers and participants. Events are held several times a year, including the main Furrburg festival and smaller themed events such as Trashcon, Зверофест/Zverofest, and Полярная пати/Polyarnaya Party.

The events also exhibit elements of pro-war propaganda, most notably through the repeated use of symbols associated with the sanctioned Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya). These include themed merchandise, a mascot dressed in a Rosgvardiya uniform, and the festival’s main organizer, Vladislav Vorozhko, who has appeared at related events wearing the same uniform. Vorozhko is also listed in the Myrotvorets database.

This information may be of particular interest to our partners in the EU, especially countries bordering Russia, such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

These individuals may represent a national security threat to these countries. They live relatively close to the EU’s eastern borders, maintain links to Russia’s pro-war and defense-industrial networks, and may seek to travel to Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, or other EU member states in the future.**

This applies both to Furrburg organizers such as the aforementioned Vorozhko and to the majority of participants, who knowingly turn a blind eye to this. The community itself also shows attempts by the organizers to promote the community among Europeans, including through merchandise sales and advertising. Djoyk — an artist and “Z” propagandist who supports Russian forces, including by using proceeds from his “art” to fund drone purchases. He also openly supports Russian occupiers among his friends. His social circle includes a neo-Nazi with whom he maintains ties. Despite this, Furrburg’s administration knowingly promotes Djoyk, while festival participants help generate income for him.

Koulfardreamer — a well-known pro-Russian artist who has promoted anti-Ukrainian rhetoric and hostility toward Ukrainians since at least 2014. She has also maintained ties with Russian military personnel involved in the occupation of Ukraine. In 2015, she actively participated in promoting pro-Russian propaganda, creating posters glorifying the totalitarian Soviet Union for the Rusfurencia furry festival. Today, she appears to be passing that experience on to a younger generation.

Avikwolf — a close associate of the Furrburg organizers and a photographer. He has been widely known in the Russian furry community since 2014 as a supporter of militants from the so-called “DPR” and is also linked to the FSB. He himself boasted about these connections on social media and in chats, using aliases. In addition to actively supporting the war against Ukraine, he has also expressed support for an attack on the Baltic states, referring to them derogatorily as “sprats.”

Mene (Yennufur) — an Austrian resident with pro-Russian views. An active participant and organizer of Furrburg events since at least 2024, he/she regularly visits Russia, where he/she helps entertain pro-Russian audiences. He/she is likely also responsible for promoting Furrburg at furry festivals in EU countries. On VK, he/she identifies as a straight male, while on Telegram, he/she identifies as a transgender woman.

This could become a dangerous trend, particularly given Russia’s laws targeting so-called “LGBT propaganda.” At the same time, EU citizens may develop a false sense of security about traveling to Russia, potentially putting foreign nationals at risk of detention or deportation.
