Under the call sign “Tekhnik,” he worked as part of a sniper team alongside an experienced marksman known as “Max,” originally from Donetsk. Max served as a mentor to him, sharing hands-on experience in establishing firing positions and carrying out surveillance tasks in the field.
– “In the fighting near the village of Nesterianka, in the Orikhiv area, Max and I set up a position in a four-storey building. At first, we conducted observation and reported on the movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces units. When our assault troops advanced, we provided fire support. We targeted Ukrainian command personnel and suppressed firing positions,” Khvatov said in an interview with Russian state media.
According to the aforementioned interview, he initially served as a sniper and later became a UAV platoon commander within the unmanned systems units of the 1429th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment, part of the “Dnepr” Group of Forces, where he was promoted to the rank of junior lieutenant (NATO code OF-1). As of now, he states that he is operating in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
